Rain Rain Go Away

Okay so incase you've been living under a rock, or in a foreign country where they could give a damn about New England:

Today is the 11th day in a row with rain.
I can't even remember the last time I saw the sun. Maybe graduation, because it was definitely out that day. I think.
See what that many days of rain and gloomy shit does to a person. MAKES THE CRAZY!
My dog doesn't even want to go out in this and she loves it outside.
She also loves lobster bibs...




Anyway.
The experts at the weather channel are even saying that these floods are the worst in decades, since the 1940s.
Crazy... Here's something I found in the weather chanel.com's blog.

"No doubt you've seen the flooding that has been taking place in northeast Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, and southwest Maine. In a historical context, how bad is it? How unusual is it?

The short answers: REAL bad, VERY unusual.
Here's the rest of the story. A couple of examples of how bad it was.
- Merrimack River near Goffs Falls, west of Manchester, NH, crested 8.87 feet above flood stage on Monday, third worst on record there and worst since 1938
- Merrimack River at Lowell, MA, crested 8.8 feet above flood stage on Monday, fourth worst on record and worst since 1938

Which floods were worse?
1. March, 1936 was the worst on record in most of these areas. Floodwaters rose 10 to 15 feet higher
than in 2006 in places!
2. April 1852 was worse in most of these areas, rivers rising several feet higher.
3. September, 1938 was also worse in most of these areas, rivers 2-6 feet higher.

How unusual? Well, just from the magnitude of the flooding, it's the worst in these areas in nearly 70 years. But it's also quite unusual in terms of its cause. It was caused by a low-pressure system that was stalled over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. It brought prolonged heavy and rather steady rain from Friday night through Monday morning as a feed of subtropical moisture stagnated across the region. More than 13 inches of rain fell in a few places in northeast Massachusetts."

Ok well I'm heading to sleep. I hear that it's not supposed to rain tomorrow. Which makes me happy.
Maybe I can start wearing flip flops again and put my rain boots away. Yea right.
