Man floats 193 miles using chair, balloons
Oregon resident fulfills childhood dream with 105 helium balloons
BEND, Ore. - Last weekend, Kent Couch settled down in his lawn chair with some snacks — and a parachute. Attached to his lawn chair were 105 large helium balloons.
Destination: Idaho.
With instruments to measure his altitude and speed, a global positioning system device in his pocket, and about four plastic bags holding five gallons of water each to act as ballast — he could turn a spigot, release water and rise — Couch headed into the Oregon sky.

This is nuts. And this is not the first time he has done it!
Shut up. That is totally what I am doing on Saturday. Except I am floating north to Boston, where you will watch me and my snacks descend with a look of jealousy!!!
- hey
thanks for the link to C Potter...
we continue to hold him in our thoughts.
We all have childhood dreams and yes, perhaps being carried by birthday balloons might have been one of mine, but you don't see me floating around Richmond in a chair held up strictly by balloons. Hell, whose to say the storck that delivers babies won't fly by and pop it with his beak?!
