Why I should Never Get Excited.

Last night was the most anticipated day of the year for me, behind St. Patrick's Day and my birthday. Night one of the Beanpot was held at the TD Banknorth Garden, and up until about 2pm yesterday, I didn't have a ticket. Since 2002, I have not missed a Beanpot game. The first two mondays in Februrary are sacred, and this tournament will most likely be the only thing that I will miss about Boston, if I ever move the hell out of here.

That being said, I left work around 3, ran home to change into Northeastern Red and Black, and headed downtown to the Garden. I met up with some friends for cheap beers and free food at an Alumni Event at The Greatest Bar on canal street, which was awesome. It was really nice to see people that I haven't seen in a while. The mood was generally happy too, I mean considering our team has actually been doing well this season. I mean we're nationally ranked! (We're slipping, I know... but RANKED!) Around 5 we all headed out to the arena.

Usually, I sit up in the balcony with my fellow Huskies, but since the tickets sold out this year in three hours (!!) I was forced to buy my ticket on ebay (Don't worry I paid was less than face value). Eventhough I had to sit alone, my seat was AWESOME. Club level. Waiter Service. Seriously. If I had to sit alone... this was the only way to do it.

Heidi, this is for you.

I was so excited at this point, you all have NO idea.
Thoughts of victory were already in my head. I knew that nothing is guaranteed... but c'mon. Look at the season we have had! I haven't been this excited about anything NU since... well since never.

And all of that ended after the first seven minutes of play.
Harvard scored first and the two more quick goals.
And by the end of the first period, I was pissed. Wait, think of a word that described more than pissed. That's what I was.

I went up to the balcony and yelled with some friends for the beginning of the second period. That made me feel a little bit better. But nothing worked. We didn't score a goal until the very last minute of the second period. It felt good. But it wasn't enough. My Huskies lost. TO HARVARD. UGH!!!!!!

But the good news is that BU lost also... so no chances of a Beanpot title for them this year. We play them next week in the consolation game.... god that sucks.

Oh and to make matter eve worse, I lost my glasses on the train on the way home. They must have fallen out of my pocket when I got up to get off. HATE HATE HATE!

if i had been there i would have cried. instead i kicked back a few ciders and yelled at the TeeVee while getting looks from bu alums that were there. Tacky ass holes.

heh we were getting our stuff from a table because we were standing at the bar so the waiter asked if we could move everything. As i was grabbing my coat some BU wench asked if they could take our table. Now if there's one thing i hate more than a bu student, it's a RUDE BU student. After all, i don't understand why people can't wait THIRTY FREAKING SECONDS and wait for me to move my crap. So she was all like "can we take your table?" And i said "sure. after we leave." "do you mind if i sit down?" "Sure. AFTER WE LEAVE" It was like she didn't understand english.

I think for the sake of hating bu and bc. I kind of hope Harvard wins it. i mean they're nerds. they've won fewer than us. so if it's not going to be us in the finals *sigh* go crimson?

several things:

item 1. i would hope you would miss me too if you ever get the hell out of boston

item 2. mike's old company did the system at the greatest bar so he used to get in free and get some comped beverages - we still need to see if this will happen now that he has switched jobs...

item 3. would the word any of the following words be better than pissed: baffle, bungle, chagrin, disconcert, disenchant, disgruntle, dishearten, disillusion, dissatisfy, dumfound, embitter, founder, frustrate, hamper, hinder, let down, no show, put out, ruin prospects, stand up, tease, thwart, torment, or vex?

item 4. no one likes rich snobby smart kids.

item 5. and people like people who go to bu even less!!!

Talk about insult to injury! Maybe the next glasses will be fabulous and make you forget all about them. Still not fun, I know!
