Last night, in order to watch the Packers vs. Cowboys game, I added the NFL network to my cable tv package. Comcast (who is secretly run by Lucifer himself), was running a special that if you wanted to add the NFL network you would also get their "Sports Package" for 4.99 per month, for three months.
Needless to say, I was more than thrilled with this.
Figuring that football will end in late January/Early February, I would be able to watch all of the Thursday night games and any other games broadcast on the station and still cancel the service well after the season was over.
Tonight, while I was feverously writing my paper (that is due online tomorrow) (hating grad school right now), Tim was searching through all of the new channels that we get with the package.
All I have to say is I just finished watching Michigan Tech (hockey) come back and beat Minnesota in Overtime. And now I am watching North Dakota play Denver.
OMG! Denver just scored on a power play.
Life is good people.
And my paper is done.

Reason #1 Why there is a God.

Don't blame Torre or Arod. Blame me.
That's it.
There is no more denying it.
I am a Yankees jinx.
Think about it.
Since I have moved to Boston in 2001, the following things have happened.
1. The Red Sox have made the playoffs in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007.
2. They actually beat the Yankees in the ALCS in 2004.
3. They fcuking won the World Series in 2004.
4. They became the AL East Champions in 2007.
5. They won last night to become the AL Champions.
6. They're in the World Series for the second time in 4 seasons.
Did I mention that before this they hadn't won a World Series since 1918?
The Yankees have not won a series since I have moved up here.
I feel awful.
I need to move the hell out of here soon.
DC here I come!

How to Make a 25 Year Old's Day
Those of you who read this blog regularly know that my long term live in man- friend, Tim, who I will refer to as Red, turned 25 this past February. We had a nice big party for him at the local "arcade" complete with pitchers of beer, bumper cars, old school arcade games (including but not limited to: "Crusin' World, Daytona 500, Simpsons, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and thousands of prize tickets which lead to something I named the Wild Wild West Shoot Out '07, that occurred in my living room later on that night.
You would think that all of these things would leave his satisfied. But NOOOO, something was missing. What? What could possibly be missing? I mean seriously, booze, cake, games, tokens, BEER PONG, Ari in from D.C.?
WHAT WAS MISSING????
I'll show you what was missing.
Yesterday in the mail, I received the final piece of the birthday puzzle.
He was so happy yesterday that he jumped up and down when he opened it up, and proceeded to put it on right then and there.
Thanks for making Red's day.
Now STFU about your birthday Tim.
I mean I love you baby.

What Really Happens on Patriot's Day
So I forgot to mention in my Patriot's Day post yesterday, that the Red Sox play every year on Patriot's Day at 10am. That was all of the drunkards of Red Sox nation can stumble over to Boylston Street to watch the end of the race.
This year, there was an incident at Fenway, that was all over the Boston news on Monday. It even made it into the Sportcenter Highlights that night on ESPN.
Take a look.

Ari: i picked niagara

Ari: puh-lease
me: Florida A&M didn’t even bring a band to the game last night
Ari: ucla finished the season ranked #3, right behind kansas
me: right but
i dont think they can pull it off
elite eight yes
i have Kansas beating them
Ari: "Youth is no longer an excuse, but NCAA inexperience still may be. The core of this group has yet to win a tournament game. With that fact hanging over their heads, the first round could be the Jayhawks' biggest hurdle. "
me: Who said that
Ari: a little source i have called ESPN
me: but who??
Ari: its not quoted
me: i have been reading ESPN for 4 days now
Ari: its an "insider" blurb on the team's homepage
Kansas lost to TEXAS TECH
they are terrible and then they lost to Oral Roberts
me: everyone has a bad day
shut up
Ari: oh, and DePaul
me: im not listening
Ari: A&M was a tough loss
they're at least a good team
and it was a last second shot
Ari: are we still friends?

Let the Madness BEGIN!
March is my favorite month. So many wonderful things occur in March. There's Spring Training, St. Patrick's Day, Daylight Savings Time, St. Joseph's Day, NCAA Hockey Championships, Mardi Gras and of course the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Each and every year I spend the 3.25 days between selection Sunday and the first Thursday game of the tournament, agonizing over my bracket. Waiting and watching to see which team will become the final 16th seed to complete the final 64. Who will be my sleepers? Which 8th seed will defeat their 9th seed opponents? Oh and god the upsets. Who will be the upset(s) this year?
Here is my time line-
Today-
*Choose tomorrow night's winner (Niagara vs. Florida A&M)- Still not sure. Probably Niagara, because they feel disrespected that they were given such a low seeding. They had a rough start to the season, but have come back strong and I don't think that they're quite ready for it to be over. This is Florida A&M's first NCAA appearance, which could be good or bad.
*Pencil in my "just by looking at it" picks- I do this every year. From here I go directly to espn.com's coverage of the Tourney. I read the expert picks, including Dick Vitale's. I scan articles of interest, because seriously, if you expect me to know each and every one of these teams by now, well you're crazy. By tomorrow yes, but not today.
Tomorrow- Look over my penciled in picks. Change some things. Flip back and forth between Dog The Bounty Hunter and ESPN all night long.
Wednesday- Talk to Ari. See who he picked. Laugh at his final 4. Research some more. Look at Tim's picks. Laugh at who he picked for upsets. Sigh that he probably picked Duke to get to the final 4. Smile at his loyalty to the Blue Devils. Finalize my picks. Hang our picks on the fridge.
Thursday- AGONIZE over my picks. Refresh ESPN like crazy because the first round games are on during the day. I will also post my picks on this blog. Probably on the sidebar. So come back and check it out.
Who do you like winning the whole thing?
Are you as crazy as I am? Please say yes.
